CASE STUDY 1

Tillamook County, Oregon: Homelessness  

Goals
  1. Develop new and coordinated approaches to address homelessness in Tillamook County, Oregon
  2. Engage community stakeholders in developing positive solutions
  3. Secure funding for the implementation of new solutions
     
Approach

  • Completed the ROCKit Launch, Flight and Landing workshop series

  • Engaged ROCKit Project Management Support (RPM)

Outcomes:

Ponce Center leaders achieved their goals:
 
  • Developed three new solutions:
    1. Creation of a new coordinating entity
    2. A mobile, flexible shelter, and A navigation function
    3. Secured over $2M in funding to implement the solutions
       
  • Created a new, funded Navigator position
     
  • Finalized a new 5 Year Strategic Plan for Homelessness
     
  • Created a new Coordinated Houselessness Consortium (CHC)
    to guide the county’s work

CASE STUDY 2

Gilliam County, Oregon: Child Care

Goals

  1. Expand and stabilize childcare capacity in Gilliam County

  2. Reduce the 3 year waitlist for childcare among children under age 5

Approach

  • Completed the ROCKit Launch, Flight and Landing workshop series

  • Engaged ROCKit Project Management Support (RPM)

Outcomes:

  • Developed two new solutions:
  1. Expanding home-based childcare businesses, and
  2. Expanding the pipeline of childcare workers
     
  • Built a roadmap for expanding the size of the early education workforce through collaborating with schools, workforce development programs, universities, and early learning facilities. 
     
  • Increased the number of home-based childcare businesses operating in the County
     
  • Planned upcoming convening to engage employers in the development of local solutions
